The WinoTripping Review - Sonoma

Michel-Schlumberger

I was up in Sonoma for an appointment and was Tweeting my locations along the way when I received an invitation from @SonomaWineGuy to come up to Michel-Schlumberger tasting room in the outback of Dry Creek Valley. @SonomaWineGuy is actually Jim Morris, Director of Consumer Sales and Marketing for Michel-Schlumberger Winery, and his invitation had the tag line, "It is a most magical place". That was all I needed to hear. I had time after my 11am appointment, and had been considering several other winery stops, but how could I possibly pass up a "magical place"?

You probably know by now that I love the Russian River / Dry Creek Valley area. Quiet roads wind through some of the most beautiful country you'll ever see, and Michel-Schlumberger is even further out - off West Dry Creek Road and and half mile further out on Wine Creek Road.

Jim was so right about the "magical place". The building is done up in California Mission style, complete with a bell tower. I entered through the gates into a peaceful courtyard with a quiet reflecting pool. At one end of the courtyard is the white face of the Mission style tank room building, and on the other some tables along a wall with a doorway leading into the tasting room and office area. Wow. Nice.
