Vina Moda Winery Wine Tasting Notes

Just past Murphys Hotel and just beyond Clarissa the donkey, the Vina Moda tasting room is in an old barn at the intersection of Main Street and French Gulch Road. We walked from downtown, but there isn't exactly a sidewalk the whole way, (not a problem). There is a small parking lot, though.

Don't let the old barn fool you. Once inside, the tasting room is designed elegantly by co-owner, and interior designer, Kristen. The room manages to keep some of it's rustic roots, while expressing a very modern feel; with dark woods, soft lighting, and comfy chairs.

We were greeted by Tina, who immediately set us up with two gorgeous wine glasses. We tasted five of Vina Moda's wines, including a wine from their Sierra Queen label, which is used for what Tina called "test runs". We found some of the red wines a bit too sweet for our palate, but the best wine by far was the 2005 Zin. We also tasted, and liked, Clarissa's Cuvee, the wine named after the donkey we passed on the way.

Friendly staff, great-looking room, and interesting wines. Overall, a good tasting experience.

Vina Moda's tasting room is only open on the weekend, so plan accordingly.
